The Institute for Studies on the Mediterranean is part of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), the largest public research institution in Italy. ISMed CNR is characterized by the interdisciplinary analysis (history, geography, economics, business and management, urban studies, engineering, biology, archaeology) of topics such as the migration flows, environmental challenges, the processes of economic and social development, the structure of trade, finance and credit, logistics and transport, urban development, innovation management, tourism and cultural heritage management. These analyses are mainly focused on the countries of the Mediterranean area, due to its geo-economic and political importance.
