Research Radar | EUNICE Seed Funding for Research

Nine collaborative research projects have been selected for funding under the EUNICE Seed Funding Call 2026, bringing together researchers from across the EUNICE European University Alliance to develop new interdisciplinary partnerships and prepare future European research initiatives.

A highly competitive first call

The 2026 pilot call attracted 77 proposals, highlighting the strong interest of the EUNICE research community in developing new cross-university collaborations. Following the evaluation process, nine projects were selected for funding, corresponding to a success rate of approximately 12%.

A total of €90,000 has been allocated, with €10,000 awarded to each project. Together, the selected projects involve 49 researchers from EUNICE universities as well as 18 associated and external organisations, including 12 researchers from outside EUNICE. Importantly, all ten EUNICE universities participate in at least one of the funded projects.

Nine projects, one shared European ambition

The funded projects address a broad range of scientific, technological and societal challenges, spanning artificial intelligence, good health, sustainability, innovation and infrastructure, cultural heritage, responsible consumption, cybersecurity, quantum technologies, IoT, sustainable communities, food systems and advanced industrial processes.
