New applications of minimax theorems

Abstract

The proposed thesis is placed within a well consolidated framework of applications of certain minimax theorems where the quasi-convexity hypothesis assumed in the most classical result (the so called Von Neumann-Fan-Sion theorem) is not present.
The aim of the thesis is just to find new applications of the above quoted theorems. In particular, one of these applications deals with the multiplicity of global minimizers for the integral functional of the Calculus of Variations.
