Applications of Artificial Intelligence to Swarm Robotics

Abstract
Robotics is one of the traditional artificial intelligence application fields. In this project, the goal is to apply artificial intelligence techniques to the field of swarm robotics, in which a swarm of simple, inexpensive robots cooperate together to solve complex problems unattainable for individual members of the swarm. This cooperation is embodied through local interactions among the swarm members and with the environment. Although the research project is primarily based on computer simulations, with possibly the physical implementation of the robotic units. This work is to be done in the "Computer Graphics and Artificial Intelligence" research group of the Univ. of Cantabria.
