Calibration and data analysis of the KM3NeT-ARCA neutrino telescope

Abstract
KM3NeT-ARCA is the largest high energy neutrino telescope operating in the northern hemisphere, that will soon compete with ICECUBE in the search of cosmic neutrino sources. The detector comprises at present more than 10.000 photomultipliers and about 50.000 will be operated in the next few years, in a volume of approximatively 1 km3. Accurate time calibration of each sensor (below 1 ns) and measurement of displacement of sensors (below 20 cm) are mandatory to detect and identify cosmic sources in the next few years. The thesis work foresees both experimental work (detector construction and calibration, participation to deployment operations), simulation and data analysis and modelling. The work will be carried out at DFA Unict and INFN- Laboratori Nazionali del Sud, under the aegis of the KM3NeT collaboration.
