Interface reduction in flexible mechanisms

Abstract

The importance of interface reduction in defining mechanical joints of flexible mechanisms has not been well investigated and the conventional methods still suffer when applied
to multibody systems.
The student will have to deal with the following topics:
1) modeling of a planar or spatial mechanism that will be experimentally validated
2) FEM analysis of single components and determination of mass and stiffness matrices
3) interface reduction methods
4) numerical study of the flexible multibody model
5) prototype design
6) experimental analyzes to evaluate the influence of the mechanical joint interfaces, even in the presence of clearance.
