The nuclear tau protein in the arising of Alzheimer's disease

Abstract
The project is centred on the role of the nuclear Tau protein in the early events of neurodegeneration such as Alzheimer's disease, and specifically on its role in the start of an abortive cell cycle in the differentiated adult neurons. The nuclear Tau isoforms will be analysed by using neuroblastoma cell lines and their neuronal in vitro differentiation. These differentiated cells will be induced to degenerate by using a variety of chemical compounds to understand the role of nuclear Tau in neuronal degeneration.
