Research Topic
This research project focuses on the green synthesis of multifunctional plasmonic nanoparticles based on gold (Au), silver (Ag), and palladium (Pd) using bioinspired wet chemistry approaches. The project aims to produce nanoparticles with controlled size, shape, morphology, and surface chemistry, enabling their optimization for a wide range of advanced technological applications.
The research includes the physicochemical characterization of the nanomaterials using state-of-the-art spectroscopic and microscopic techniques, followed by the evaluation of their biological activity through in vitro cell-based assays.
The developed nanomaterials will be investigated for applications in theranostics, environmental sensing, and sustainable energy technologies, providing multidisciplinary training at the interface between nanotechnology, chemistry, materials science, and biomedicine.
Research Objectives
- Develop green, bioinspired synthetic strategies for the preparation of plasmonic Au, Ag and Pd nanoparticles with controlled size, shape and surface functionalization.
- Characterize the synthesized nanomaterials using advanced spectroscopic, microscopic and surface analysis techniques to establish structure–property relationships.
- Evaluate the biological activity and biocompatibility of the nanoparticles through in vitro cell-based assays.
- Explore the multifunctional potential of the nanomaterials for applications in theranostics, environmental monitoring and sustainable energy technologies.
