Porphyrin-based nanostructures via self-assembly: covalent and non-covalent approach

Research Topic
Abstract

A mixed-approach to realize porphyrin-based nanostructures requires a deep comprehension regarding the covalent and non-covalent aspects underlying the nanostructures’ synthesis. As a consequence, the aim of this thesis is to investigate and explain the combined strategy through the supramolecular synthesis based on porphyrin nanostructures. The research will be addressed to achieve some one- and two-dimensional porphyrin-based nanostructures by using a supramolecular template (organic and inorganic biomolecules) to control the final aggregation. Exploiting this fine control on the final structures it will be possible to introduce important properties such as chirality.
