The mission of the Center Pio La Torre is to enhance the ideal and political heritage marked by the life and work of Pio La Torre, creating and promoting studies, initiatives, and original research concerning contemporary Sicily and the evolution of the mafia phenomenon. The Center pursues its aims through the realization of seminars, meetings, researches, publications, etc. The Center proposes from 2006 an anti-mafia educational project aimed at the Sicilian and national high schools, universities students, and adult students in prison. The project promotes the study of the complexity of the mafia phenomenon in its historical evolution and in its contemporaneity with particular attention to the birth, growth, and development of a conscience and an “anti-mafia" commitment.
