Abstract
The terms “community” and “energy” intrinsically have contributed to the drive of what is called “energy community” (EC), however, the term still reaches scientific ambiguities. Due to its multidimensional spectrum, the factors that contribute to the community roadmap have been studied from different approaches and related challenges. In this research, key research foci will identify the challenges for the RECs emergence across Europe along with a systematic review was conducted among the major relevant research branches with a focus on social and urban dimensions (energy poverty, gender equality, etc.).
