Numerical Simulation of Thermal and Energy Performance of a Building with a Dynamic Wall System

Research theses
Abstract

This research focuses on the numerical simulation of the thermal and energy performance of a building that incorporates a dynamic wall system. These systems are capable of changing their thermal properties in response to environmental conditions to improve energy efficiency and indoor comfort. The student will use simulation tools such as EnergyPlus or equivalent to model the dynamic behavior of the wall and assess its impact on heating and cooling loads, temperature, and comfort/discomfort. Scenarios will be defined for different climates, occupancy patterns, and control strategies. The work should also include a baseline comparison with a conventional wall system.
