Foundation of offshore structures for marine renewable energies

Abstract
Foundation of offshore structures for the exploitation of marine renewable energies (such as wind energy) poses new challenges in the field of offshore geotechnics where it is essential to account for the fluid-structure-ground interaction. Both in fixed and floating wind applications, the dynamic behavior of the structure causes significant displacements and deformations of the seabed that traditional solutions are not capable of considering. This proposal aims to developed advanced numerical tools capable of capturing the mechanics of the ground subjected to dynamic loads that cause large deformations (i.e., anchors, piles, etc.) and to calibrate those numerical models with physical models, providing advanced technological solutions to the sector.
