In the heart of Sicily, between the provinces of Enna and Caltanissetta and along the southern Imera river, lies one of the largest green areas on the island, the Oriented Natural Reserve of Monte Capodarso and the southern Imera Valley. Established in 1999 and entrusted to the management of the Italia Nostra Association, the reserve falls within the territory of the municipalities of Pietraperzia, Caltanissetta and Enna, between the slopes of Monte Capodarso and Monte Sabucina, covering an area of 1,485.1 hectares. Various ecosystems, sulfur mines, archaeological areas and farms come together in an archaeological and naturalistic context of rare beauty.
