The Institute of Bio-architecture and Research plays a decisive role in the field of environmental sustainability, the redevelopment of the territory and the ecological conversion of the anthropization process. Its main activity is research and has obtained the definitive code from the Ministry of Education, University and Research, mandatory to access public funding in the field of research and / or training which constitutes an identification of the entity for the purposes set out in the DPR 11/7/1980 n. 382.

The Biomolecular Chemistry Institute (ICB) of the National Council of Research carries out research activities (basic and applied) in the field of Chemical Sciences. The ICB mission consists in the chemical study of biological systems in order to understand their functioning at the molecular level and finding out new technological applications.

The Institute of Crystallography Catania Unit of Research National Council (CNR-IC-CT) uses skills in the field of chemistry and biology aimed at studying the molecular mechanisms that underlie numerous human diseases for the development of new "tools " for prevention, diagnosis and therapies. The institute is characterized by many specific skills in the fields of chemistry (synthesis, physics-chemistry, analytical chemistry, thermodynamics) and biology (molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology).
